Statistics Netherlands (CBS) has announced that the consumer price index (CPI) and the European Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) will be updated from 2026. New base year: 2025 = 100
From 2026, the index's base year changes from 2015 = 100 to 2025 = 100. This means price developments will from now on be calculated relative to 2025 price levels.
CBS has also updated the classification of goods and services. This new breakdown better reflects current household consumption patterns, and brings the CPI more closely in line with the European HICP.
